Empowering Communities For Life (ECFL) is a UK registered charity established in 2016 with a mission to empower disadvantaged communities through education, health and wellbeing, equality, inclusion and sustainable development. We believe that lasting change is achieved by working alongside communities, recognising their strengths, respecting their culture and investing in solutions that enable people to build brighter futures for themselves and future generations.
Our Work in Africa
Since our formation, ECFL has focused its charitable activities in Africa, where we have developed long-term relationships with local communities, schools, community leaders and partner organisations. Our work has centred on improving educational opportunities, supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), promoting health and wellbeing, encouraging environmental responsibility through recycling initiatives and strengthening community resilience through collaborative projects.
Thank you. Your donations built a multi-purpose water well in Sandkandi
- Hire a specialist team to construct a multi-purpose water well in a rural village in northern The Gambia called Sandkandi.
- Install an eco-friendly solar-powered pump system for water access.
- Build two toilets and a shower room for the future playground.
- Construct a 1.5-meter high security wall to protect the well.
- Climate-Proof the shower room by reinforcing the roofing to withstand harsh weather due to climate change.
- Develop a New Website: We launched our brand new user-friendly website to share updates and future projects in 2025.

Play is far more than just fun it is an essential part of childhood. It helps children learn, grow, build meaningful relationships, develop confidence and better understand the world around them. Access to safe, stimulating and inclusive play spaces is vital to every child’s development, happiness and wellbeing.
